The red flag was a huge break for
Gagne. It meant he could take the restart,
his Yamaha suffering only superficial
damage in the crash. He made the most
of the opportunity, taking an early lead
and pulling clear to take a 10th win of the
season which moved him into a tie with
Mike Baldwin for 19th on the all-time AMA
Superbike wins list.
Second in race one went to M4 Ecstar
Suzuki's Bobby Fong, 4.6 seconds adrift
of Gagne. Fong eventually got the better
of South African Mathew Scholtz (Westby
Racing Yamaha) for the position, with
Scholtz's compatriot and Fong's teammate
Cameron Petersen fourth ahead of former
MotoGP rider Hector Barbera in fifth on
the Scheibe Racing BMW.
JD Beach made a welcome return to
MotoAmerica competition, filling in for
Josh Herrin on the Fresh 'N Lean Attack
Performance Yamaha who had earlier
tested positive for Covid-19. Beach took a
sixth in race one but halved the finishing
time gap between himself and Gagne to
take another sixth in race two.
Race two was another Gagne benefit.
The number-32 was never seriously chal
-
lenged over the 18-lap encounter, finishing
5.2 seconds clear of Scholtz, with Baz
charging through from 10th on the grid to
take third on his spare Ducati Panigale.
Fong and Petersen rounded out the top
five.
The Superbike Cup, run for Stock 1000
machines within the Superbike races were
both taken out by Jake Lewis in the Altus
Motorsports Suzuki GSX-R1000. Lewis
leads the SBK Cup points at 69, seven
ahead of BMW's Travis Wyman.
In the championship, Gagne is miles in
front with 275 over Scholtz's 196. Petersen
is third with 161, the absent Herrin is still
fourth at 145, and Fong is fifth with 141.

team, to the guys at Duca , because the bike
was in such a bad state yesterday—swingarm
broke, frame, everything. We managed to do
a good in race two on the second bike."
40 SEAN DYLAN KELLY
1-1 SUPERSPORT
"It was a much more interes ng race
compared to yesterday," Sean Dylan Kelly
said a er race two. "Yesterday was tough,
just a li le different. I was up front for pre y
much the en re race, plus zero. Richie was
right behind me, but he didn't seem to have
enough to make a pass on me. Today he was
definitely a step up. The pace was way, way
faster than yesterday. So, props on whatever
Richie did, whatever his team did because
they were on a really good level. It was a
li le bit hard to make solid passes. I wasn't
able to be as gnarly as I usually am with
them, but it was okay. I was able to learn
quite a bit just from staying behind him."
70 TYLER SCOTT
2-1 JUNIOR CUP
"It was a really tough race," Tyler Sco said
a er race two. "I didn't expect that it was
going to be this big of a group. I thought
me and Ben were going to kind of pull away
and maybe Max [Toth] was going to be
there with us, but it was a really good ba le
throughout the whole race. I'm happy with
the outcome and extending the points lead."
