hen the 2021 Progres-
sive American Flat
Track season wraps,
the Port Royal Half-Mile could
very well be looked back on as
the night factory Indian superstar
Briar Bauman made his move.
There was a time earlier this
season that the two-time defend-
ing champion appeared open
to attack. Following the Volusia
doubleheader, his primary rivals,
Jared Mees and Brandon Robin-
son, had combined to win six of
the previous seven races dating
back to 2020 and sat 1-2 in the
championship chase.
That time is behind us. The
remnants of Bauman's eight-race
winless streak still existed head-
ing into the inaugural Port Royal
Half-Mile in the form of a close
three-way title fight. But leaving
flat track hotbed Pennsylvania,
the championship has taken on
a decidedly different feel.
With Mission Roof System's
runner Robinson fading back
to seventh and Mees scraping
to put his works FTR750 into
third ahead of Robinson's team-
mate, early race leader Jarod
Vanderkooi, Bauman was busy
tracking down the escaping
Brandon Price.
Third-year pro Price was well
positioned to cement a two-day
