It's ISDE Fundraiser Season! T he qualifiers are over. The bikes have been crated and shipped. The gear and last-min- ute spares have been ordered. The countdown to the 95th FIM International Six Days Enduro (ISDE) is on. All that's left to do for U.S. Club team riders is raise the funds to help offset the huge financial impact that participating in the oldest off-road competition demands. To that end, fundrais- ing season is well underway. Among the various fundraisers was the AMA National Grand Prix Championship (NGPC) Series- and AMA District 37-backed event for Preston Campbell, Cole Martinez and Mateo Oliveira, all of whom are looking forward to their first Six Days. Held at Pole Position Raceway in Corona, California, on July 22, it drew a good crowd that enjoyed raffle prizes, the Bratzer- man food truck, and plenty of kart racing. But the highlight of the evening may have been the auction to be a factory rider for a day at a future NGPC round. That honor went to 13-year-old Tony Sesto who'll get a set of Fly Racing gear and ride a specially prepped Honda courtesy of Slam Life Racing (SLR) Honda, Marti- nez's sponsor. Early estimates of money raised put the figure for the eve- ning at over $6000, which will be distributed evenly among the three riders. As Martinez said, "Honestly, I wasn't expecting any- one to put something together like this, so this is unreal." Mark Kariya IN THE WIND P44 Thirteen-year-old Tony Sesto (seated) won the factory-rider-for-a-day auction and will enjoy a day of racing an AMA NGPC as a member of Cole Martinez's (right) SLR Honda squad.
