Triumph Motorcycles Eyeing Motocross and Off-Road T he iconic British brand, Triumph, says it has teamed with five-time World Enduro Champion Iván Cervantes and motocross and Supercross legend Ricky Carmichael to help develop a range of off-road and motocross machines in prepa- ration for an assault on, for the company, new markets. Triumph Motorcycles says it wants to create a factory race program and a commitment to top-tier championship racing in both motocross and enduro series. An announcement of the time- table for the launch and reveal of the motorcycles, as well as the racing program and the full story on the product advantages the new Triumph MX and Enduro offer, will follow in the coming months. Nick Bloor, CEO Triumph Motorcycles Ltd., said, "[The] announcement marks the begin- ning of a new chapter for the Triumph brand, which everyone at Triumph is incredibly excited to be part of. We are 100% com- mitted to making a long-lasting impact in this highly competitive and demanding world, with a single-minded ambition to de- liver a winning motorcycle lineup for a whole new generation of Triumph riders." "I am thrilled to announce that I am joining the Triumph family and even more excited to be a part of their new endeavor into the off-road product category," said Carmichael. "This is an incredible opportunity for me to join this historic brand, and I am honored and humbled to be a part of the development and release of their off-road motor- cycles. Building something from the ground up is something that really is intriguing to me at this stage of my career. What is im- pressive to me is Triumph's dedi- cation, and passion to develop a top-of-the-class product. Ev- eryone that I have been involved with [on] this project, from the engineers, design groups, R&D department, etc., have shown extreme passion for what they are doing and that is a recipe for success and something that I love being a part of." CN VOLUME 58 ISSUE 30 JULY 27, 2021 P23 Triumph says it wants to get into motocross racing and hired Ricky Carmichael to help it achieve its goal.
