LOOKING BACK
We caught up with 500cc Motocross World Champion Andre Malherbe
while he was in town for the Carlsbad U.S.GP. The champ was pictured
on the cover 40 years ago... We announced that Cycle News was going
to start publishing a monthly tabloid—ATV News... A round of the World
Championship 250cc MX series took place at Unadilla. Britain's Neil
Hudson took the overall win. Americans Donnie Hansen and Steve
Wise were the moto winners... Mike Kidd won the DuQuoin Mile.
We suggested that you take a friend to see the movie On Any Sunday 50
years ago, because the movie's producer Bruce Brown will do a much
better job explaining to your friends why we ride and race motorcycles...
Rich Thorwaldson continued to make the headlines after grabbing another
desert-racing win in Barstow, California... Jimmy Odom won the first
running of the Corona Half-Mile in California... We reported that Jack, Tom
and Jeff Penton, and Dick Burleson, Lars Larson and Gene Cannady
would make up the U.S. ISDT team at the Isle of Man.
