Tomac came through. At that point Tomac still needed to get Ferrandis if he wanted what would have been his first overall win of the series. "The overall was right there, I mean it was right in front of me, I just didn't quite get it done," said Tomac. "I found a line really late in the moto in the back. It ended up being an outside to outside, that's how I got Chase. I tried it on Dylan there and got so close, but not quite enough." "I got off to two pretty good starts, and that was pretty much the difference," said overall win- ner Sexton. "It was a lot of effort to pass people and I think that got me towards the end," said Musquin of the second moto. "I knew fifth- place wasn't going to be enough for an overall podium, which is a fading Roczen, who would slip all the way back to sixth, one spot ahead of Webb. Roczen's fade was a big topic of discussion, especially after he would only muster a 10th in the second moto. Turns out he was dealing with sickness. "Dang it! The last couple weekends have been rough. I got sick last Saturday and was sick throughout the whole week," Roczen said. "I had so much weakness in my body and was not feeling hot at all this Saturday, which shows in my riding and my results. Unfortunately, I just had to make my way through the motos. I haven't been ill in a long time like that, so it's bound to happen at some point. Frustrat- ing but it is what it is. Couldn't have waited another week." Webb grabbed the lead to start the second moto, followed closely by Ferrandis. It didn't take long for the Yama- ha rider to get past Webb and he would stay out front and mostly unchallenged until the checkered flag, though Tomac was closing at the end. Ferrandis' 5-1 scores landed him in third overall and kept his streak of overall podium finishes going, that started with a win at the series opener. "I think the holeshot helped me get that win," said Ferrandis. "I was able to manage the pace and save energy. I didn't know if it was Eli or Chase at the end, but I had enough to make a push. It feels good to come out on top of that battle with Eli. He's such a tough competitor and a great rider. I'm really happy with the day." After moving past Webb for second, Sexton stayed put until MOTOCROSS LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 7 / JULY 24, 2021 WASHOUGAL MX PARK / WASHOUGAL, WASHINGTON P68 ers. The team said he was feeling "under the weather" and chose not to race... Robertson's teammate Dean Wilson, who revealed earlier in the championship that he's been dealing with the Epstein-Barr virus, went 11-11 on the day. "I'm just kind of running on fumes, dealing with what I'm dealing with, and I feel like I have nothing left in the tank," Wilson said. "That was the best I had to- day."... Many pinned their hopes on Michael Mosiman to make it eight different winners to start the 250MX season, but he didn't have one of his better days, saying, "I think I lost the race today on the first lap in both motos." Briefly... Ken Roczen came into the race feeling under the weather and didn't have the strength to race for the win. He lost big points to Ferrandis and can feel Tomac closing in on him in third.
