ohn Hall almost gave up
his dreams of an NHRA Pro
Stock Motorcycle career
when he left George Bryce's
Sovereign/Star squad at the
end of the 2012 season, but he's
now glad that he didn't. Racing
at NHRA's newest event, the in-
augural Auto-Plus NHRA New
England Nationals, Hall became
the series latest first-time champion when he defeated Lucas Oil
Buell's Adam Arana in the final
round. Hall and Arana both ran
matching 6.92-second elapsed
times, but Arana left the starting
line too soon and red-lighted.
"I don't think this has sunk in
yet," Hall said. "I'm just a hobby
racer from Connecticut, but I'm
living proof that anyone can win a
Wally [NHRA trophy]. In the final I
saw Adam's bike get out in front
of me and I thought he got the
jump on me, but then I looked up
to see if my win light was on and it
was. I started jumping around on
the bike. I was so excited. "

the number-six qualifying spot
