DiSalvo, Beaubier and Gagne
celebrate on Saturday's podium.
"Once I got on his rear tire I figured it was kind of a different story," Gagne said. "I knew that he
ran soft [tire compound] yesterday and I knew I had a little more
grip, especially at the beginning.
We decided to stick with the medium again today and when I got
on his wheel I just wanted to stay
there. I figured he would do the
same thing and keep going and I
knew I was starting to feel some
pain. There were two or three
laps there where he picked it up
and dropped quite a bit of time so
I just rode it home to second after
that."
DiSalvo dropped off the pace
and fell all the way to eighth.
JD Beach was third on the
other RoadRace Factory Yamaha, scoring his second podium
of the season and matching his
best result of 2013. Beach was
assisted by a mistake on the part
of Garrett Gerloff. Gerloff, along
with three other riders, jumped
the start and was assessed a
Beaubier said of his race with
Gagne. "I looked up at the tower
and saw Jake was second so I
just tried to get a good pace going and halfway through I tried to
get down to some 27s and was
able to pull a little bit of a gap."
Next up is Mid-Ohio. Beaubier
and Dane Westby split wins there
last year, so it will be interesting to
see if Westby, who finished 4-5 at
Barber, can continue to improve
in his comeback from Daytona injuries and once again challenge
five-second time penalty. So for a win in the next round. CN
even though he finished third on
the track the penalty pushed him Race 1
back to fourth.

"It sucks to get third like that," 2. Jake Gagne (Yamaha)
Beach said. "But in a class like 3. Jason DiSalvo (Triumph)
this you've got to take them when- 4. Dane Westby (Honda)
ever you can get them. That's 5. JD Beach (Yamaha)
part of racing. I've had my fair 6. Garrett Gerloff (Yamaha)
share of jump-starts. Other than 7. James Rispoli (Suzuki)
that it was a good race. I knew I 8. Bobby Fong (Triumph)
was closing on him [Gerloff] then 9. Joey Pascarella (Triumph)
with about four or five laps to go 10. Benny Solis (Honda)
I think we came up on a pack of
lappers and almost got taken out Race 2
twice. It kind of sucks my race al- 1. Cameron Beaubier (Yamaha)
most ended like that. Once I got 2. Jake Gagne (Yamaha)
by them I started pushing again 3. JD Beach (Yamaha)
and did another fast lap and was 4. Garrett Gerloff (Yamaha)
able to get third by .02 [of a sec- 5. Dane Westby (Honda)
ond] I think. So for a track I'm not 6. James Rispoli (Suzuki)
too great at it's nice to go home 7. Jake Lewis (Yamaha)
with a podium and go into the 8. Jason DiSalvo (Triumph)
next round strong."
9. Benny Solis (Honda)
Beaubier explained his Sun- 10. Joey Pascarella (Triumph)
day race strategy.
"I knew Jake was fast all week
so I knew he'd be right there,"
