or just a microsecond after
Road America we thought
we might have a Daytona
SportBike Championship battle
on our hands. Jake Gagne's victory a couple of weeks ago in
Wisconsin, gave DSB fans some
hope that the series might not be
a Cameron Beaubier runaway.
Scratch that.
After the race weekend at
Barber Motorsports Park everybody's pretty much back to thinking this series is all but owned by
Beaubier.
Again Beaubier faced challenges this weekend from both
Gagne and Jason DiSalvo, who
calls this track home since he
runs a racing academy at the circuit. As DiSalvo puts it, "I know
every nook and cranny on the
track. Every time I go there,
there's something a little different, a new patch somewhere."
Unfortunately for his challengers, Beaubier has either a special talent, or a special motorcycle, or maybe both. He has some
uncanny ability to find a little extra speed late in the race when
others are struggling to find grip.
Beaubier's very good at preserving his tires mid-race and racing
away from the field once everyone's rubber is going off.
