Meanwhile, Dungey was long gone. Dungey's first lap was a 2:00.672, and he followed that with four consecutive laps under two minutes – 1:59.709, 1:59.618, 1:59.775, and 1:59.672. Dungey didn't even see a 2:01 or higher lap time until after halfway, and Villopoto didn't see a single sub 2:00 the whole moto. In short, Dungey had the lead, and the last thing he was going to do was give Villopoto any hope of catching him. Dungey's moto-two win was convincing, to say the least. Villopoto finally got into second place on lap five of 17, but Dungey just continued to pull away, eventually winning by over 17 seconds to take his second moto and overall win of the year. And although Budds Creek used to be considered a favorite for Villopoto – especially since his 2007 Motocross of Nations romp, when he won both of his motos going away in front of all of the 450cc guys on his KX250F – Dungey has now won at Budds Creek three of the last four times he's raced there. Eli Tomac seemingly came out of nowhere to win the second 250 moto. "I think it's an amazing track," Dungey said. "I've been fortunate to have good success here. I like the elevation. The off-cambers are pretty tricky and the dirt is good. Every year I enjoy coming back. It's just a good track to race at. I think it really brings out the best of each rider and challenges us."
