MOTOCROSS LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 6 / JULY 17, 2021 SPRING CREEK MX PARK / MILLVILLE, MINNESOTA P66 team? So stoked for GasGas!" he shouted on the podium. "We were just having a blast out there. This is one of my favorite tracks and the fans here are unreal. What a great day for us." CN 450MX Overall 1. Justin Barcia (Gas) 1-2 2. Eli Tomac (Kaw) 3-4 3. Colt Nichols (Yam) 7-7 7. Jo Shimoda (Kaw) 8-9 8. Austin Forkner (Kaw) 17-4 9. Carson Mumford (Hon) 14-8 10. Jalek Swoll (Hus) 12-10 Cooper after he was handed the red plate, despite being passed by Mosiman for second in the moto. I honestly rode pretty mediocre today. I left a lot on the table, I feel. I wasn't that com- fortable [on the bike], so I got to take the blame on this one and do better. I felt like we could have been battling for the overall win today, but we'll take it. We've got the red plate now. [I] simply need to be better. I can't afford to leave anything on the table." As for the winner Martin, "I was kind of tired in that second moto, but the fans just kept cheering me on, and that kept me going out there. This feels really good. You know I've been through the ringer this year, and one thing I've learned is that sometimes the cards aren't always ideal for you, but you have to push through it." Second overall Mosiman was even more enthusiastic on the podium that the veteran win- ner Martin, especially after his teammate won the 450 class. "Oh man, double podium for the ers flew off the track trying to avoid the mess. By the time things had settled, Brown and Hampshire were out of the race, while the rest had gotten back going again, though Robert- son later withdrew with "bumps and bruises." Hampshire, winner of the RedBud round, had track- side repeater banners hopelessly stuck in his rear wheel. His bike eventually had to be carried back to the Rockstar pits. Brown called it a day with an injured knee. "I just committed to that," said Lawrence of the crash. "I thought I could capitalize on people because everyone was checking up. I committed. I went right and I just think Brown was there. He went to his left. I'm sorry I hit him; I couldn't do anything else—I had just committed. It just sucks." While Martin was riding away with another moto win and the overall, Cooper came under pres- sure from Mosiman, who eventu- ally passed Cooper for second. Cooper stayed in third until the end of the race, with Forkner finally landing a top-five finish in fourth. Hunter Lawrence ended up fifth, just in front of his young- er brother. "This is definitely a nightmare of a day," said Jett Lawrence afterwards. "Started off really good in qualifying but my starts have really been putting me down in the back of the pack and really not helping me. And yet Cooper has been getting good starts and that's what I need to be doing. I was brought up to never give up." "That's what it's all about," said 2021 Spring Creek Pro Motocross Highlights
