VOLUME 58 ISSUE 29 JULY 20, 2021 P55

The $14,999 Sportster S will
be available this fall.
The new Harley-
Davidson 1250
Sportster S features
Harley's Revolution
Max 1250T liquid-
cooled engine, which
is similar to the Pan
America's engine
but producing less
horsepower with
more low-rpm
torque.
Compared to the Pan America's 1250 en-
gine, the 1250T's cylinder heads have smaller
valves and port dimensions, and a different
combustion chamber shape, which increases
the velocity of flow through the combustion
chambers at lower RPM and increases torque
output at low and midrange RPM (providing up
to 10% more torque from 3000 to 6000 rpm).
Pistons are shaped to match the combustion
chamber dimensions of the cylinder heads.
The length and shape of the intake velocity
stacks, combined with the airbox volume, are
tuned to maximize performance across the
engine speed range.
The camshaft profiles and Variable Valve
Timing (VVT) phasing are also designed to
match the desired performance of this engine.
The Sportster S is packed with rider aids,
and also features multiple ride modes.
It rolls on a 17-inch wheel up front and a 16-
inch wheel in the back.
It weighs 502 pounds (wet, claimed) and
holds 3.1 gallons of fuel.
The Sportster S is expected to hit showroom
floors in the Fall with a $14,999 MSRP.
