So, the will power, the mental strength and just the hard work to pull yourself out of the hole and then build on it to get to where we are now, it's awesome. So, I'm super proud of myself." "This was an up and down day for me," said Cooper, who did close up the points deficit he had between himself and Jett Lawrence. "I found myself on the ground on the first lap of moto one and then had to fight my way through the pack from last to salvage some points with sixth. In the second moto, I just didn't have the energy to hold Hunter back. I gave it all I had today and gained some points in the process." "My starts really hurt me a lot, but I showed I have the speed to come through," said Jett Lawrence. "Not the greatest weekend. He crashed again when he cross-rutted in a sweeper and would finally fin- ish ninth, his worst moto of the series to date. The second moto again saw Hampshire with the early lead, and again with an unforced error when he washed his front end out in a corner. That put Cooper in the lead, and for moment it seemed like he might ride away with another second-moto win, but then Hunter Lawrence came up and made a pass, and off he went. Cooper stayed in second, with Jett Lawrence recovering from his first-moto debacle for third in the second outing and the steady Shimoda in fourth. "Pretty happy with how the day went—it doesn't get much better than that," said a jubilant Hunter Lawrence afterwards. "Pretty awesome day. Dude, I've been to hell and back like five times, it feels like, in the past two years. When you're in the lowest of lows you always dream of it, but you can never actually visualize it and see it because 2021 Southwick National Motocross Video Highlights
