For the second year in a row, Jeff Stanton won the U.S. 250cc
Motocross Grand Prix at Unadilla. Stanton traded moto wins with Mike
LaRocco. The top European finisher was Sweden's Peter Johansson;
Mike Kiedrowski won the 125cc class over Jeff Emig... Eighteen-year-
old Larry Pegram won the Hagerstown Half-Mile over Ronnie Jones
and Will Davis... Ten years later,
Brian Anderson was still winning
at the Pikes Peak Hillclimb, this
time with a time of 13:24.82;
Larry Roeseler won the 500cc
Pro class in 13:40.34.

Staff projects was the Cycle News theme 20 years ago, which included
a restored 1979 Suzuki RM250 and a Suzuki RM250 motocrosser-
turned flat tracker... Ricky Carmichael and Larry Ward were the big
winners at the RedBud National Motocross... We covered the Formula
USA Superbike Series from VIR. Mike Ciccotto and Lee Acree
traded Superbike wins... Max Biaggi won the Dutch Grand Prix;
Toni Elias won the 125cc GP class... Mike Lafferty kept his perfect
season alive with his sixth win at the Rhody Rovers National Enduro.
