Finishing fifth overall—his
best outing so far this sum-
mer—was Red Bull KTM's
Cooper Webb. The AMA Su-

to show improvement and
more speed with the work
he's doing.

The early leader in the first
250 moto was Rockstar
Husqvarna's Jalek Swoll, win-
ner of the third round of the
series at High Point. He was
soon overtaken by his team-
mate RJ Hampshire, winner
of the last round at RedBud in
Michigan. As a matter of fact,
Hampshire held the early lead
in both motos at Southwick
and appeared to be the fast-
est man on the track, but in
both cases he crashed, con-
tinuing an unfortunate habit
for the Rockstar Husqvarna
rider.
GasGas rider Michael Mo-
siman inherited the lead from
Hampshire in the first moto
but then he also crashed
while leading, under pressure

a first-lap crash in moto one and had to pit
for a new one. He recovered for 24th place
and then 16th in the second moto for 18th
overall... Former two-time 250 champion
Jeremy Martin crashed on the first lap in
both motos. He scrambled for 11-14 moto
scores and 13th overall.
