I
t was clear that Toprak Razgatlioglu and his Pata Yamaha by Brixx R1
was going to be trouble for Jonathan Rea and his KRT Kawasaki Nin-
ja this year, but nobody expected to see a change of championship
lead after three races at Donington in three different track conditions. It
was wet-ish, then dry-ish, then completely dry for the Donington races.
In Tissot Superpole qualifying on Saturday Rea scored his first-ever
pole at Donington, making it the 14th track he has taken a leading start
position at. It was his fourth straight pole of the year too, for a rider who
never used to be particularly good at one lap of final qualifying.
