Jalek Swoll (Hus) 8-14 said Cooper who also won the second moto at High Point. "I made a mistake in moto one and crashed on the first lap, but oth- er than that, I'm happy with my riding. We also made up some points in the championship, and we will keep digging for a better result at the next round." Hunter Lawrence said, "Been too excited, too urgent, almost, and I had been bringing that Supercross intensity in the first laps in the earlier rounds, it bit me a couple of times." Like his brother, Hunter trains and is coached by former champion Johnny O'Mara. "So, we im- proved that this weekend and were just a little more mellow in the first laps." The older Law- rence would go 3-4 in the two motos to secure fourth overall. "It was a solid day for me going 5-3 for fifth overall," said Jeremy Martin, a former two-time series champion in a previous stint with Star Racing Yamaha. "I didn't have the speed of the overall win would be dashed when he crashed on the first lap, and then had difficulty get- ting restarted in the traffic as he was caught on a steep little hill in the main line. He would later describe the predicament "like I was on the 91 highway!" [refer- encing a notoriously congested freeway in South California], Lawrence would scramble throughout the moto to go from nearly 40th to sixth. "I actually liked my second moto better than my first," admit- ted Lawrence afterwards. "Wins like the first win are always good but the second one gave me a little more of an adrenaline rush and I felt awesome. I was able to make my way through and got pretty lucky with a few guys crashing out and ended up get- ting third [overall], which is really good for one of my bad races." Cooper again holeshot the second moto, ahead of his team- mate Jeremy Martin, who made a somewhat surprising early return to the series after break- ing his hand at Thunder Valley just one month ago. Hampshire worked his way past and into second, and then out-sprinted Cooper up and around the big "Monza Turn" on the infield. But before he could put the moto win away, Hampshire fell for a third time, surrendering the lead and moto win to Cooper, but he was able to keep the overall for himself. "It was a great day for me to pick up where we left off," 2021 RedBud Pro Motocross Highlights
