ake Gagne extended his win streak
in the 2021 MotoAmerica Super-
bike Championship to seven after
dominating the racing under an intense
sun at Ridge Motorsports Park in Sheldon,
Washington. Gagne won both Saturday's
and Sunday's races with room to spare
over his Fresh N' Lean Attack Performance
Yamaha teammate Josh Herrin. Gagne took
the checkers 4.4 seconds ahead of Herrin
in race one and stretched it out a tick more
the next day, crossing the finish line with a
5.6-second margin on Sunday.
Extraordinarily hot temperatures in
the Pacific-Northwest area almost made
the races a survival of the fittest affair both
days, but Gagne shrugged off the heat
and went about his business winning both
days in similar manner.
After breaking the track record during
Q2 on Saturday morning, Gagne later that day
led all 17 laps of the Honos Superbike race.
Herrin finished a season-best second.
He had his hands full for most of the
race with M4 Ecstar Suzuki's Cameron
Petersen hounding Herrin until giving up
the chase after running wide in the turn-
one chicane.
