Justin Barcia (GG) 9-6 8. Marvin Musquin (KTM) 10-7 9. Joey Savatgy (KTM) 8-9 10. Cooper Webb (KTM) 7-11 250MX Overall 1. Jalek Swoll (Hus) 1-3 2. Jett Lawrence (Hon) 3-2 3. Justin Cooper (Yam) 5-1 4. Colt Nichols (Yam) 2-5 5. Garrett Marchbanks (Yam) 10-4 6. Austin Forkner (Kaw) 7-6 7. Ty Masterpool (GG) 9-10 8. Hunter Lawrence (Hon) 8-11 9. Dilan Schwartz (Suz) 6-13 10. Carson Mumford (Hon) 13-7 and I'd rather get second than go over the bars and end up losing more points. So, it was a bit of a disappointment today. I'm not very happy with this, but if this is a bad race for me, I'm very happy with it. And congrats to Swoll for his first win, he did perfect." After a fifth in the first moto, Cooper was much happier with his second-moto win, though it was not enough for what would have been a second-straight overall win. "I got out front early and rode aggressively to pull a good lead and then managed it from there," said Cooper of his win. "We're feeling good going into the break." With his runner-up overall finish Jett Lawrence extends his lead over Cooper to 11 points (132-121) while his older brother Hunter is still third, despite crashing on the first lap in both motos and los- ing his helmet visor both times. Swoll is now fourth, two points back (90-88). Nichols is now Back up front, Swoll was work- ing on a career-best rider, as was Colt Nichols—at least outdoors. Nichols, the 250SX East Cham- pion, tried to close the gap on Swoll but was unable to. Nichols had a shot at the overall early in the second moto but, like Hamp- shire, he was unable to find the same rhythm the second time out and settled for a fifth-place finish, good for fourth overall. "We made some progress, so I can't complain about that," Nichols said. "I got some good starts and put myself in better positions, but I just didn't ride and execute how I wanted to in that second moto. My bike was great, and honestly, the condi- tions were good, but the track is just really tough to ride when you don't have a flow, and that was my moto two." Jett Lawrence, visiting High Point for the first time, had a good day in holding on to the 250MX class points lead, but the 17-year-old Australian just could not run down his rival Justin Coo- per in the second moto for the win and what would have been another overall had he caught the New Yorker. "I got into second [in the second moto] and was trying to put in a charge to Cooper, and I was noticing the gap wasn't really closing at all," said Lawrence of his second race. "I kept it go- ing for another few laps, it still hadn't changed, and I had a few sketchy moments, so I thought I'm better off just riding this off High Point Pro Motocross Highlights
