Mini Cup
The opening round of the Mo-
toAmerica Mini Cup by Motul took
place on the Road America kart
track. The event featured a lot
of track time on the spectacular
course and allowed riders 14 and
under to compete in front of a lot
of the top professional riders and
teams.
All the riders compete on Oh-
vale GP-0 mini bikes with classes
for 110, 160 and 190cc displace-
ments. Each class had two sepa-
rate races and many of the riders
competed in multiple classes.
American Racing Team's Ken-
sei Matsudaira was the domi-
nant rider on the day, winning
both races in the 110 and 160cc
classes. In the 110 class, Nathan
Gouker and Anthony Lupo Jr. fin-
ished second and third, respec-
tively, in both races.
In the premier 160cc class,
Matsudaira topped Atlas Speed
Factory-backed Jesse James
Shedden in both races. Those
two had good battles in both
races but Matsudaira managed
to pull away at the end during
both races. Jashua Raymond
rounded out the podium in both
160 races.
In 190 class race one, Shed-
den won by nearly four seconds
over Fernandez Racing's Jayden
Fernandez, with Travis Wyman
Racing's Chris Clark finishing
third. Race two of the 190 class
saw Shedden win again, this
time by just under two seconds
over Raymond. Clark completed
the podium again in third.
