NELSON I t's often said imitation is the greatest form of flattery, and if that's true, Cameron Beaubier must be feeling pretty good right now. That's because the man who was his junior in 2020 on the Fresh N' Lean Attack Performance Yamaha squad, Jake Gagne, has well and truly picked up where the five-time MotoAmerica Champion left off, reeling off win after win against America's best superbike stars. Gagne's latest double victory came at Road America, the longest venue on the calendar. The now Colorado resident banked a 5.9- and 6.7-second win in front of the biggest crowd seen in MotoAmerica for many years, taking over the reins of the championship from previous leader Mathew Scholtz (Westby Racing Yamaha). Jake Gagne's (32) speed has been god-like so far in 2021. As Cameron Petersen (45) says, "We can't let Jake keep doing this to us. He's making us look bad." DAY 2021 AND
