Memorial Ride
O
n Wednesday, June 9 (6/9),
known throughout the motors-
ports community as Nicky Hayden
Day, Specialized of Costa Mesa
hosted a 69-mile bicycle ride to honor
the Kentucky Kid. The ride was put
on with backing from Specialized
Bicycles, FMF, Ryno Power, Seven
10 Graphics and a number of ath-
letes came out to show their support.
Motocross stars like Justin Barcia,
Marvin Musquin, Colt Nichols, Justin
Cooper, Christian Craig, Jarrett Frye,
Levi Kitchen and Matt Leblanc were
joined by living legends like Jeremy
McGrath, Jeff Ward and Star Rac-
ing Yamaha's Team Trainer Gareth
Swanepoel.
More than 50 riders were treated
to a beautiful Southern California day
as they embarked on Pacific Coast
Highway. The coastal route included
a trek from Costa Mesa north to the
Huntington Beach Pier, south to Dana
Point Harbor, and ultimately back to
Costa Mesa. A Police escort was also
organized for the duration of the ride
to ensure safety for such a big group.
The ride concluded with an after party
of food, drinks and a raffle at the
Rosso Corsa Gallery.
Nicky Hayden was struck by a car
while cycling near the Italian Misano
Circuit, May 17, 2017 and later suc-
cumbed to his injuries. For more
