LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP
ROUND 2 / JUNE 5, 2021
THUNDER VALLEY MX PARK / LAKEWOOD, COLORADO
P66
"We got to where we wanted
to be today, on the top step of the
podium," said Cooper after getting
sprayed down with champagne by
both Lawrence brothers. "It wasn't
easy out there, but I got two hole-
shots and gave it my all. We had
some really good battles up front
and had a lot of fun. The track got
pretty rough by the end of the day
with some hot weather, so it was
physically demanding."
"They gapped me and I was giv-
ing it my all," said Lawrence of his
first-moto pursuit of Jeremy Martin
and Cooper, as well as third-place
finisher RJ Hampshire.
"I was struggling, but the sec-
ond one I got a better start be-
hind Cooper," added Lawrence,
The 450MX class in 2021 is a
deep field of fast, accomplished
riders, which even makes finish-
ing inside the top 10 a chore.
Behind fourth-place Barcia were
Star Racing Yamaha's Aaron
Plessinger (5-4) and Honda's
Chase Sexton (4-5), Christian
Craig (6-7), Cooper Webb (8-8),
Marvin Musquin (9-9) and Colo-
rado's own Eli Tomac (11-10),
who continues to struggle to
find the old speed that brought
him three pervious 450MX Pro
Motocross titles.

Justin Cooper took his second
straight win at Thunder Valley, hav-
ing also won last October's race.
overall at Fox Raceway at Pala,
California. He again led part of
the first moto, only this time he
did not crash, though he did end
up losing two spots to Roczen
and Ferrandis. He backed it
up with a sixth in the second
moto, helping him to finish the
day third overall with 3-6 moto
scores, despite a second-moto
spill. That put him just ahead of
Barcia's 7-3 tally. The result also
moved Cianciarulo up to sixth in
the standings.
"It feels really good to put
together two solid motos and be
up here on the podium," Cian-
ciarulo said. "That little tip over in
the corner wasn't ideal, but today
was still a good day overall."
Jett Lawrence got the last
laugh by winning the second
250MX moto.
