the halfway mark. As Robertson, who is still recovering from a knee injury, began to fade, Mar- tin picked up his pace and finally tracked Vohland down. It wasn't much longer that smoke could be seen coming from the KTM's engine, and Vohland's bike soon ground to a halt. What looked like a certain podium finish became a DNF for the son of Tallon Voh- land, himself a national winner. As the time wore on, Lawrence kept moving forward, making quick work of fast contenders like Husqvarna's RJ Hampshire and Star Racing's Justin Cooper, both national winners, reaching second with five laps to go. He was inching up on Martin, but the leader picked up the pace again on the last two laps and 250MX Grabbing a massive holeshot was the pro motocross debutante Max Vohland of the Red Bull KTM factory team, riding in his first outdoor national, followed closely by Rockstar Husqvarna's Stilez Robertson and Jeremy Martin, who missed almost the entire Supercross season after a first-turn injury to his shoulder in the first 250SX East race. "I feel like I was riding good all day and I'm excited to go on to Thunder Valley," said Sexton of his fifth overall finish. "I'm in a good spot with the bike, mentally and physically."
