fter a 28-day break fol-
lowing the 17-round AMA
Supercross Championship,
the 2021 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross
Championship kicked off in front
of a huge and enthusiastic crowd
for the DirtBikeKidz National at
Fox Raceway, and they got to see
close racing in both classes.
In his first outdoor outing
aboard a 450cc motorcycle,
French import Dylan Ferrandis,
the 2020 250MX National Cham-
pion, shocked a talent-rich field
when he won the overall in what
was his Monster Energy/Star Rac-
ing Yamaha team's first motocross
race ever in the 450MX class.
And in the 250MX division,
Team Honda's Jett Lawrence, the
17-year-old Australian, out-dueled
veteran Jeremy Martin, a two-time
250MX Champion, for the overall
win.
Ferrandis had only managed a
single podium finish in the Mon-
ster Energy AMA Supercross
Championship and ended the
series a modest seventh overall.
But on Saturday he looked like
he found something in the weeks
since SX finished, notching a
