And that's a worry he was all too happy to inflame after the race. He said, "We're back. I've been talking about not having any fire, but I'm fired up now. The fire is back. It's been a while since I've wished the race was the following weekend. When I'm going, I just want to keep going, good, bad or indifferent. These next two weekends are going to suck because I wish we were racing again next weekend." AFT SINGLES The AFT Singles main event was something of a bridesmaid's ball, featuring a three-way battle for victory between 2020 class runner-up Max Whale, 2019 class runner-up Mikey Rush, and Morgen Mishler, who finished as the race runner-up in three consecutive last-lap shootouts late last season. Since Estenson Yamaha ace Rush won at Williams Grove half- way through last season, the trio had combined to register seven second-place finishes—five at the hands of reigning champion Dallas Daniels—without a victory among them to show for their near misses. FLAT TRACK PROGRESSIVE AMERICAN FL AT TRACK ROUND 4 / MAY 29, 2021 THE DIRT OVAL AT ROUTE 66 SPEEDWAY / JOLIET, ILLINOIS P98 13 MORGEN MISCHLER 2ND AFT SINGLES Roof Systems runner Morgen Mishler didn't know whether to feel lucky or not a er registering his seventh runner-up finish since he earned his first—and to date only—AFT Singles win back in 2018. This one had to feel a li le more fortunate than the others considering his bike expired just as he took the checkered flag. He said, "I got to lead some laps, that was good, and I felt like my pace was really good. I have no complaints with how I did. I had some good lines, and we were rolling today. I'm definitely bummed [not to win], but I'm really glad the thing made it to the finish. Because if it would have been a lap earlier, I'd probably cry a li le bit more. But the fact that it made it to the finish and the fact that we stayed in second—we're happy about that, but we're s ll in our feelings." MYOWNRACE Jared Mees (9) beat out Brandon Robinson (44) for the last spot on the SuperTwins podium.
