Once the race resumed, Briar Bauman, who had just made his way to the front of the pack prior to the Mees/Robinson incident, looked like the dominating double defending champion observers had grown accustomed to seeing over the 2019 and 2020 seasons. Inch-perfect and unassailable at the front, Bauman didn't so much as see another rider's front wheel as he blasted away to his first victory of the 2021 season. He also took his customary spot atop the championship points in the process. An inspired-if-miffed Robinson ripped up through the pack, ultimately arriving in fourth but still upset to have missed out on the 64 DANNY ESLICK 3RD AFT PRODUCTION TWINS Daytona 200 legend Danny Eslick earned his first Progressive AFT podi- um since the opening weekend of the 2020 season and did so in impressive fashion. Eslick won his Semi, earned pole, led several laps, and generally looked as compe ve as a flat tracker as he has since making a full- me re- turn to the discipline. And he did so de- spite recently losing his ride and having to borrow a Kawasaki Ninja 650 off of Pro One Industries' Gordy Schopieray. Eslick said, "I had been riding the bot- tom all night long and those guys went to the top. I spent like five or six laps chasing the bo om, and it just never worked, so I finally went up top. I felt like I reeled [Texter and Cose] in a li le bit here and there, but they kept the gap about the same. A er the year I've been having, to come out and get on the podium was really awesome." Contact with Jared Mees put him on the ground and Robinson was fortunate to be healthy enough to make the restart.
