93 MARC MARQUEZ DNF MOTOGP "It has been a very hard weekend for MotoGP, we have lost a young talent, a young rider inside the paddock," Mar- quez said. "This situa on is very hard for everyone, and we wish everyone close to Jason all the best. Unfortu- nately, we finished the race much earlier than we were expec ng, and it was really not a good situa on because I need laps on the bike. I had con- tact with Brad Binder, it was a racing incident, and this happens many mes here at this track. I thought that Binder was further back and in the change of direc on, we touched, it was my mis- take. Luckily no one else fell. Now we prepare for Catalunya a er this difficult weekend for the MotoGP family." MYOWNRACE 44 POL ESPARGARO 11TH MOTOGP "Today our results are not the focus, the most important thing is thinking of Ja- son and his family," Pol Espargaro said. "Today we all had him in our hearts and minds when we raced. My race was dif- ficult today, the start was okay and I was behind Taka. Then something happened with the wing and I lost it, which made it very complicated. I was losing a lot of aerodynamics, changing direc on was very hard and the bike was not behav- ing. This happened on lap four or five so it was difficult." Oliveira and Mir battled it out for the final podium place, with Oliveira taking second and Mir third. There was confusion in Parc Ferme as Oliveira was first de- moted to third for exceeding track limits, promoting Mir to second. Then, Mir was docked the posi- tion for exceeding track limits, putting Oliveira back into sec- ond—back to the same positions they crossed the line in. Fourth went to Zarco after Rins crashed out on the final corner with a handful of laps remaining, from Brad Binder, who made it two KTM's in the top five. Rounding out the top 10 was Jack Miller (Ducati), Aleix Espar- garo (Aprilia), Maverick Vinales (Yamaha), Danilo Petrucci (KTM) and Valentino Rossi (Yamaha). Marc Marquez crashed out on lap two, as did Bagnaia, while VOLUME 58 ISSUE 22 JUNE 2, 2021 P85 (Above) Marquez was out on lap two following contact with Brad Binder. (Left) Johann Zarco (5) used the speed of the Ducati to trouble Quartararo down the straight but once his compatriot found a way through and broke the slipstream, there was no catching him.
