time penalty for his small jump- start and ended up 16th. Rea, up front, was a clear winner, upping his pace to keep Davies too far back to try any last-lap action on him. In winning his 103rd WorldSBK race on Sunday afternoon, Rea took an extended 35-point cham- pionship lead away from Estoril. Approaching the next round in Misano, Rea has 110 points, Razgatlioglu 75, Redding 72 and Lowes 62. WorldSSP The Evan Bros Bardahl Ya- maha and Steven Odendaal roadshow rolled on at Estoril as the dream team scored a third race win in three starts. But this time it was a close four-way fight for the Saturday win, in which second place Philipp Ottl led for most of it. He could not get back past Odendaal on the run down the long main straight at the end of the only lap that mattered—the 18th. Behind them, Jules Cluzel and Dominique Aegerter had a great final fight, with Cluzel on the podium, but by a tiny margin. The top four were separated by just 0.765 seconds. Behind the big guns, privateer Yamaha rider Manuel Gonzalez was fifth. Race two proved to be an absolute thriller with a poignant end. The sad news of the pass- ing of Moto3 rider Jason Dupas- quier had reached the WorldSSP paddock before the Sunday race, and it proved fitting in some senses for his compatriot Dominique Aegerter to win for the former masters of WorldSSP, Ten Kate Racing. "We had some sad new before the start, we heard that Jason Dupasquier passed away, a great Swiss talent," said Aegerter. "My condolences to his family, friends and team, I will dedicate my win to them. I pushed very hard in the race, and I want to say a big thanks to the team and sponsors because they did a great job to make sure we were here. We made a big step between race one and race two, and now I just can't wait to be back for the next one at Misano." It was an astounding race again, with names like Cluzel and De Rosa crashing from top positions, plus the shock of Odendaal retiring with a tech issue. The four-way fight for the win saw recent Italian SSP cham- pion Luca Bernardini (CM Racing Yamaha) score second place, from ninth on the grid, with long- time leader Ottl taking the final podium spot from Gonzalez. In the points, Odendaal still leads, by six points over Aegerter 75-69, with Ottl third at 52 and new boy Bernardi fourth with 42. Gordon Ritchie Race One 1. Scott Redding (Duc) 2.
