Series with a double victory

unning for his sixth National Trials title, Pat
Smage claimed a double
victory at rounds one and two of
the AirES AMA/NATC MotoTrials
US National Championship held
in the mountainous logging country near Cayuta, New York.
Riding without the usual pressure from his nemesis, 2010
champ Cody Webb, who will miss
most of the series with a broken
foot, Smage took relatively easy
victories on each day, although
the Sherco USA-backed rider ad-
mitted he wasn't his best and had
to keep an eye out over his shoulder on young guns Bryan Roper,
Logan Bolopue, Eric Storz and
Karl Davis, who represent the latest crop of U.S. feet up talent.
"I didn't ride as well as I had
hoped I would, but a win is a win
and I'm pleased to get out of here
