IN THE WIND P56 Brabec Wins Sonora Rally R icky Brabec (Monster Energy Honda Team) made it back-to-back-to- back wins at the 2021 edition of the Sonora Rally, May 10-15. The five-stage rally, held in the Altar desert in the state of Sonora in northern Mexico, included over 560 miles of timed special stages on a total 930-plus-mile route. Brabec won two of the five stages and finished with a 13-minute gap over runner- up Skyler Howes (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Rally Team). "The Sonora Rally was great," Brabec said. "One year ago, we had Covid, so it's really great to be back here. It was a difficult five days and we made it happen. Three times in a row is pretty nice." Finishing third in the race was Brabec's teammate, Chil- ean Jose Ignacio Carnejo, aka "Nacho." Fourth went to JCR Racing- supported Kendall Norman, fol- lowed by KTM rider Mason Klein. Yamaha's Andrew Short withdrew from the race due to an illness after completing the second-to-last day of the competition. Norman topped the Road to Dakar category which of- fers to the winner a free entry for the 2022 Dakar Rally. CN MOTORCYCLE 1. Ricky Brabec (Hon) 2. Skyler Howes (Hus) 3. Jose Ignacio Cornejo (Hon) 4.
