Racing Yamaha's Dylan
Ferrandis and Monster
Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawa-
saki's Seth Hammaker were
announced at the 2021
Monster Energy AMA Su-
percross final at Salt Lake
City, Utah, May 1, as the
recipients of the '21 AMA
Supercross 450cc and
250cc Rookies of the Year.
Ferrandis was awarded
450SX Rookie of the Year
after a solid season. The
Frenchman finished out the
championship in seventh
place, which included one
podium—a second place at
Houston 2 in just his second
race ever in the class. He
also finished fourth twice,
both coming at the final two
races of the season at Salt
Lake City.
Hammaker got his award
in the 250SX class, which saw a slew of fast rook-
ies in 2021. Hammaker finished out the 250SX
West Championship in fourth place, which includ-
ed one win (at Arlington 1) and three total podiums.
"I'm super excited to be awarded the rookie of
the year," said Hammaker. "It means a lot to me
and I put in a lot of hard work this season. I'm
happy to see it pay off. It has been an awesome
rookie season and I can say that I've learned a lot.
Whether it was good or bad, I'll take my experience
into next year to fight for the championship."
