decimated the field at the San Jose Mile... We covered the Transatlantic
Trophy Match Races. Team USA put up a good fight but lost out to the
Brits in the six-race series... Terry Vance topped the Southern Nationals
in Georgia... Mark Barnett won the Kansas City Supercross opening up a
40-point lead over Kent Howerton... Frank Stacy won the Trask Two-Day
ISDE in Oregon... We also had an interview with Stacy.

We featured desert star J.N. Roberts on the cover of Cycle News 50 years
ago. Roberts was tearing up the desert-racing scene lately with his third
win in a row, his latest coming at the Red Dots M.C. Hare Scrambles...
Cycle News tested the 1971 Ossa Pioneer dual purpose bike. We said we
couldn't think of a better way to invest $1000... And that wasn't all. We also
got our hands on the Penton 125 Enduro. We were impressed how you
could race it right off the showroom floor.
