but to be able to leave on the podium
is a huge relief, and to gain points is
always good on your bad days."
Indeed, it was a profitable day for
Webb who stretched out his points
lead from 15 points to 22 on Roczen.
And third-place Tomac gained a lot
of ground Roczen. The Kawasaki rider
is now well within striking distance of
the Honda rider.
Jason Anderson (Rockstar Energy
Husqvarna), who was the top 450SX
qualifier, had the speed to win but
a so-so start was his undoing in the
main. He finished fourth, while Dylan
Ferrandis (Monster Energy Star Rac-
ing Yamaha) rounded out the top five.
Plessinger was sixth, followed by
Marvin Musquin, Joey Savatgy, Roc-
zen and Justin Barcia (TLD/Red Bull/
GasGas), who got caught up in the
same first-turn melee as Roczen.
250SX WEST
The 250SX West class saw another
new winner, the fourth, this season—
Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha's
Nate Thrasher of Tennessee. It was
quite the turnaround for the Super-
cross rookie, whose best finish prior
to Atlanta 1 was ninth (which he did
twice), and then he qualified for the
day's main event via the last chance
qualifier, which he won.
But in the main event, something
clicked for the youngster, and Thrash-
er looked like a Supercross veteran.
(Above) Second-in-points Ken Roczen
could not make up for a bad start. He lost
ground to Webb and now has Tomac to
worry about. (Right) What in the heck got
into Nate Thrasher? Prior to Atlanta 1, the
rookie's best finish was a ninth, but on
this day, he led from start to finish in the
250SX West main.
