MIKE BROWN
STARTS OFF THE
3 ENDUROCROSS
SERIES WITH TWO
STRAIGHT WINS
VOL. 50 ISSUE 23 JUNE 11, 2013
(Left) Mike Brown led all laps en
route to his second-consecutive win.
(Below) Despite having to toss his
goggles, Taylor Robert kept Brown
honest the whole way.
Even with the fourth gate
pick in the main event, Brown
quickly took the lead when Blazusiak and Colton Haaker went
down together in the first turn.
Monster Kawasaki's Taylor
Robert immediately slotted into
second and the two riders battled closely for the entire main
event. Each seemed to have
stronger sections on the track.
Robert closed in on the large
rock pile that dropped into the
water pit every lap only to eat a

Briefly...
Destry Abbott took a big fall during practice at the Barcelona X
Games Enduro X that injured his
shoulder, which required surgery.
So he was unable to race in Sacramento but was on hand supporting
his 15-year-old son, Cooper, who
competed in the Open Amateur
class. Cooper just missed qualifying for the main event, which is a
difficult task with nearly 40 riders
fighting for just 12 spots in the main.
Four time and defending EnduroCross Champion Taddy Blazuisak
had a big last-lap crash while pressuring Mike Brown for the win at
the Barcelona X Games event a few
weeks ago and injured his wrist.
That injury forced him to miss the
Erzberg Rodeo, which is the event
that helped the trials specialist gain
the attention of KTM and transition
to off-road racing. Erzberg is arguably the toughest single day
off-road motorcycle event and
Blazusiak won it five consecutive
years before missing the event the
past two years. He said the wrist
injury slowed him a little in Sacramento but worse yet, "I was sick as
a dog all week and that was much
worse than my wrist."
The Women's main event was
intense and 16-year-old Lexi
Pechout took her first ever EnduroCross win with a last-lap pass for
the lead. She was closely followed
by fellow Canadian Chantelle
Bykerk. Rachel Gutish led all but
the last lap before getting stuck in
the firewood pit and dropping back
to third.
The night also included several amateur classes and Dirt Rider magacontinued on next page
