VOL. 50 ISSUE 23 JUNE 11, 2013
Jesse Groemm matched his season
best after cracking the top five.
said Bakken. "After the first test
I knew I was riding well. I knew
it was going to be technical, so I
just tried to slow down a little and
just be fast and smooth. I actually crashed in every test except
for the fourth test, and I won that
one."
Eight-time National Enduro
champ Mike Lafferty switched
back to a two-stroke for the Michigan race and took fourth overall,
the factory Husaberg rider finishing a minute-and-a-half ahead of
AmPro Yamaha's Jesse Groemm
in fifth.
"The first test wasn't too bad,
but I got a little arm pump and
ended up a little off the pace,"
said Lafferty. "Mullins started out
on a tear, and he was gaining
ground on us in every test, so I
just tried to concentrate on some
of the other guys. We made a
couple of changes on the bike
and I feel like we made the bike
better for me, and I got back into
my two-stroke groove again. I
don't know, I'm just trying to work
on getting some of my quickness
back, getting beat by Charlie by
30 seconds per test is hard to
make up."
KTM's Grant Baylor headed
up the second half of the top 10,
finishing sixth ahead of Colorado
KTM rider Ian Blythe.
P103
New Hampshire's Tanner
Thomas grabbed his best National finish with an eighth, while
Husaberg rider Kyle McDonal
and Husqvarna rider Craig DeLong rounded out the top 10. CN
