haste though, he skipped the
entire whoop section and throt-
tled his way through the smooth
sideline. The race officials felt
this move gained position for the
2018 champ, and they penalized
him a position after the race. He
was credited with seventh.
Saturday night's race was
shaping up to be a good one,
with some of the biggest rhythm
sections we've seen this season.
The heat-race action was hot
as Roczen forced his way past
Webb for the race lead. Roczen's
Honda teammate, Chase Sex-
ton, followed suit and put Webb
on the ground in the process. It
wasn't a full-on take out, more
like a bumping of wheels in the
tall part of a bowl corner, never-

fire under Webb prior to the main
event.
Roczen picked up where he
left off in the main event and
grabbed the early holeshot and
lead. He looked to check out
closest threat to the top three.
Jason Anderson was penal-
ized during round 11's main event.
After getting caught up with a
downed rider, he was off-kilter
and had to ride over a Tuff Block
to maintain his balance. In his
front but slowly faded over time,
ultimately crossing the line seven
seconds behind the race leader
in third place. He held pace with
the leaders but simply could
not find his way around Tomac
or Webb. After a sixth place at
Arlington 1, Roczen seemed
somewhat pleased with a third
saying, "The red plate, of course,
it's a nice little something to have
on the bike, but in the end is
when it counts."
Justin Barcia rode to a quiet
fourth-place finish aboard his TLD
Red Bull GasGas machine. His
average lap times were just a few
tenths off those of the leaders
which eventually put him in a lonely
position just outside the podium.
The opening-round winner has
seen some resurgence in his riding
as of late and continues to be the
