Marquez To Miss First Two GP's M arc Marquez has revealed he will miss the first two rounds of the 2021 MotoGP World Championship at the Lo- sail International Circuit in Qatar following a physical examination by his medical team. Marquez broke his right hu- merus in a crash at round one of the 2020 MotoGP World Cham- pionship at Jerez and has un- dergone nine months of intense recovery that's included three operations and a bone graft from his hip in December. "After the last review with the medical team, the doctors have advised me that the most pru- dent thing was not to take part in the Qatar Grand Prix and to continue with the recovery plan that we have followed in recent weeks," Marquez said. "I would have loved to be able to partici- pate in the opening race of the World Championship, but we will have to continue working to be able to recover the optimal conditions that allow us to return to competition." Marquez famously attempted a comeback just six days after the crash at the Andalusian MotoGP but pulled out after a handful of laps. It was later revealed he re- broke the arm after "opening a window" at his house, which prompted the lengthy recovery. Marquez will undergo another medical check on Monday, April 12, in the hopes for medical clear- ance to compete at round three of the championship at Portimao in Portugal on April 18. CN IN THE WIND P28 Marc Marquez isn't rushing his return and will sit out the first two MotoGP rounds of 2021.
