Mees just kept building and
building.
Double defending champion
Bauman was better, too. He
improved upon the distant fourth
he earned on Friday after drop-
ping Halbert to fifth by grabbing
the holeshot for Saturday's re-
match and leading the opening
stages of the race.
Bauman and Mees instantly
ripped a gap on the field. But
Sammy" Halbert as they traded
third and fourth between one
another. But once clear of Hal-
bert, Mees found his groove and
reeled the leaders back in at a
remarkable clip. While he ran

92 BRANDON PRICE
(11-4) SUPERTWINS
Brandon Price made big improvements
overnight, claiming a semifinal win on
Saturday and then coming out on top of
a four-rider duel for fourth in the main.
He said, "We were struggling a li le bit
coming off the corners; I couldn't really
get the trac on to the ground. There
were a few changes we could have made,
but we're s ll learning and couldn't really
predict how the track was going to turn
out. But I was pre y fast all day and won
my first semi which was pre y cool."
64 DANNY ESLICK
(11-10) PRODUCTION TWINS
Danny Eslick clocked some serious miles
on the weekend, running double duty
at Volusia and Daytona Interna onal
Speedway. That culminated on a Satur-
day in which he backed up a fi h-place
run in the Daytona 200 with a top-ten
finish in the AFT Produc on Twins on his
Berry Brothers Kawasaki Ninja 650. "Oh
man, what a long weekend," he said. "I
was hoping for be er results in both the
Daytona 200 and the AFT races, but it
was a huge challenge just ge ng over to
the track a er racing 200 miles an hour
before AFT prac ce. The blisters on my
hands show how long of a weekend this
was for me. I'm exhausted, sore, and
ready to do it again!"
