Finally fully healthy and with his
confidence soaring after closing
out the 2020 season with con-
secutive victories, Robinson then
proved nearly as dominant in the
main. He controlled the pace from
the front, leading the race from
green light to checkered flag.
Robinson's performance made
it feel like perhaps the '21 season
won't ultimately boil down to a
two-man duel between archrivals
Jared Mees and reigning Grand
National Champion Briar Bauman.

Track's season-opening
doubleheader balanced two
competing lines of thought. Friday
night's Mission SuperTwins show-
down on Volusia Speedway Park's
half-mile clay oval was a power-
ful example of just how quickly
assumptions can be undone and
the nearly unlimited possibilities
presented by the start of a new
season. The following evening,
however, served as a stark re-
minder that preseason favorites
are perched atop the paddock
pecking order for a reason.
Brandon Robinson looked, at
times, untouchable aboard his
Jared Mees
finished off the
Volusia Half-
Mile weekend
with the win on
Saturday night.
