the ground when dealing with Anderson, but
his moves never seemed overly aggressive.
The number-21 pilot mentioned that his riding
has improved since the first Orlando and he
clocked his best finish of the year on Satur-
day. When asked about the passes with Fer-
randis and Stewart he said, "It is what it is. I
don't want someone to end up on the ground,
but at the same time I want to pass the guy.
I don't want to be just chilling behind people
like I have been all year."
250SX West
Another first-time winner stood atop the
250SX podium this week. Rookie Seth Ham-
maker took top honors in just his third profes-
sional Supercross start. After winning his heat
race, the youngster lined up with the first gate
pick, ready to make his mark in the main. It
was a Team Green duo as Hammaker battled
with his Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawa-
saki teammate, Jordon Smith, for the open-
ing few laps. Smith made a costly mistake in
which he found himself in between rhythm
lanes and struggling to get back on track. He
lost the second-place spot to Hunter Law-
rence but remounted in third.
For the second
week in a row a
first-timer won the
250SX West main
with both riders
coming from the
Monster Energy/
Pro Circuit/
Kawasaki squad.
This time it was
Seth Hammaker
who came out
on top.
