T
he Road 2 Recovery foundation has
established a fundraising campaign for
injured motocrosser Todd DeHoop.
DeHoop is a veteran motocrosser from Michi-
gan who competed regularly on the outdoor
National Motocross and Supercross circuits in the
mid-1980s through the late '90s. His last professional
race was in 2001. He won the 125cc East Supercross
Championship riding for Suzuki in 1988 (which was
his only year on a factory team). He later rode for
satellite outfits Tuff Racing and Honda of Troy.
The 52-year-old from Zeeland (Michigan) was
competing in the Ricky Carmichael Amateur Su-
percross March 7 when he suffered a spinal cord
injury during practice. DeHoop fractured his C3
vertebrae and reportedly has very limited mobility
on his right side.
He is expected to be transported to Mary Free
Bed Rehabilitation Hospital in Grand Rapids,
Michigan, a hospital closer to his hometown. Here,
he will start an in-patient physical therapy program
to help regain his body's functionality with the hope
of walking again.
If you would like to donate to DeHoop's recovery,
please visit Todd DeHoop's Road 2 Recovery.

BITD Revives World Hare & Hound
Championship
A
Best In The Desert staple,
the World Hare & Hound
Championship has been revived
in the 2021 schedule. Originally
billed as "One Man, One Ma-
chine, One Desert, One Way,"
the 2021 event will be sponsored
by Rocky Mountain ATV-MC
and presented by GPR, and is
scheduled for May 21-23, 2021 in
Tonopah, Nevada.
Best In The Desert founder
Casey Folks first organized the
World Hare & Hound Champion-
ship in 1984, and it quickly be-
came one of the premier events
in off-road desert racing. It was
known as an event that tested the
best desert motorcycle racers in
the world. Past winners include
renowned desert legends Dan
Smith, Chris Crandall and Garth
Sweetland among many others.
The 2021 Rocky Mountain ATV-
MC World Hare & Hound Cham-
pionship Presented by GPR,
open to motorcycles only, will be
run point-to-point on a 110+-mile
course. Pit crews will have easy
access to pits as they chase their
rider during the race. The event
will see Pro, Expert, Amateurs,
Family, Ironman, Women and
Youth Motorcycle Classes.
"Our staff, and my brother in
particular, have really put a lot
into this," said Best In The Desert
CMO Bryan Folks. "Our goal is
to give back to the motorcycle
racing community, the community
that gave Best In The Desert its
start with a very special race. The
biggest difference between 1984
and today is that we intend to
honor the women competitors as
much as the men with their own
World Championship crown. In
addition, we plan to have a great
event for the kids."
