IN THE WIND P52 Stover, Aeck Take Glen Helen 6 Hour T he first round of the 2021 3 Bros Endur- ance Racing Series kicked off at Glen Helen Raceway, March 14, with Nick Stover and Colton Aeck (GasGas) taking the AA Open class and overall race wins. Completing 23 laps of the expansive Glen Helen course that took in parts of the motocross track as well as the surrounding hills, gullies and single-track, Stover and Aeck also set the fastest lap of the race on lap two at 14:52.989 seconds. Trevor Hunter and Chance Fullerton (Kawasaki) came home second, 2:33.874 seconds in arrears with Honda-mounted Mark Samuels and Justin Morgan 2:25 seconds further back in third. Cycle News entered the race in what can only be described as a bull in a china shop display, running second for the majority of the race in the Business Class before three crashes put paid to our chances. We'll have a story on the "epicness" of the Glen Helen 6 Hour from our perspective soon in these pages. Rennie Scaysbrook Colton Aeck and teammate Nick Stover (pictured) teamed up to take the Glen Helen 6 Hour win. Maxwell, Herfoss Share ASBK Wins W ayne Maxwell (Ducati) and Troy Herfoss (Hon- da) shared the race victories at round two of the 2021 Australian Superbike Championship at Winton Motor Raceway in Victoria, March 13-14. The two stars of recent times in ASBK were in a class above at Winton, as Herfoss took pole posi- tion and looked to have the race-one win under control until Maxwell dived up the inside at the penultimate corner, with Herfoss crashing out at the final corner as he attempted to take the lead back, eventually crossing the line in 11th. Ducati's former champion Mike Jones came home second for a Ducati one-two, with Yamaha's Cru Halliday taking third. Former AMA Supermoto Champion Herfoss made up for it in race two, taking a clear 1.9-sec- ond win from Maxwell and Jones, with Troy Bayliss' son Oliver taking a commendable fourth place on the Ducati V4 R in his first Superbike race meeting after finishing race one in seventh. "We showed our potential over the weekend; I just made a mistake in the end of race one," Max- well said. "I showed my hand a little early. I'm so happy with race two, I was in the sub 20 bracket on my own and just having too much fun, I wanted the race to keep on going." Maxwell leads the championship with 45 points over Jones' 38 with Herfoss third at 36. CN Wayne Maxwell banked a win and second place to leave Winton with a seven-point advantage in the championship over Mike Jones. PHOTO: ASBK
