While Cooper Webb and Roczen were having some she- nanigans in the first turn, Tomac snuck through on the inside, blitzed into the lead and never looked back, leading all of what would be an 18-lap race. He had the fastest lap time of the race, a Tomac dominated the 20-min- ute-plus-two-lap final. He wasn't stellar leading up to the race, however, qualifying third (behind Ken Roczen and Dylan Ferrandis) for the evening program. He then placed third (behind Roczen and Malcolm Stewart) in his heat race and ultimately qualifying sixth for the main event. Instead, Tomac IIIMY OWN RACE: 25 MARVIN MUSQUIN DNF 450SX Marvin Musquin felt his chances were good to get his first win of the season at Daytona and was looking good un l unexpectedly pulling out of the main event on lap 14. "The riding was good today," he said. "I made a mistake and got passed by two guys but I fought my way back up to Ken [Roczen] and Coo- per and unfortunately, I started hearing noise in the engine. I didn't know what was wrong, and I couldn't keep going and take risk with that without know- ing what was going on, so unfortu- nately, I had to DNF. It's heartbreaking, I can't believe it. Those situa ons are tough to accept." 14 DYLAN FERRANDIS 11TH 450SX Dylan Ferrandis had a promising start a er qualifying second, but things fizzled out for the Frenchman. He was fi h in his heat and ended up 11th in the main. "I felt good during prac ce," he said. "I had a good start in the main event, but I got tangled up in the first turn, and then I had a small crash in the sand. It was another frustra ng night for me."
