Duvall Injury
Update
R
ockstar Energy Husqvarna's Thad Du-
vall was taken to the hospital during the
opening round of the U.S. Sprint Enduro
Championship in South Carolina, February
27. On Saturday, Duvall hit a tree, suffering
multiple injuries.
Duvall reported on Sunday night, Febru-
ary 28, via Instagram that he "clipped a tree
wrong with my footpeg and shot me into
another tree, stopping me instantly." Duvall
said that he suffered a collapsed lung, broken col-
larbone and "some fractured ribs in my back."
This setback is especially disappointing for the
off-road-racing veteran in that he was a serious
contender for both the Sprint Enduro and GNCC
Championships, now that eight-time GNCC and
four-time Sprint Enduro Champion Kailub Russell
is semi-retired. It is the GNCC title that Duvall really
wants but now his 2021 title hopes are in jeopardy.
It should be noted that GasGas rider Ryan Sipes
came to Duvall's aid when he crashed, sacrific-
ing his own race, but officials made adjustments
to Sipes' time in the test that he stopped to help
Duvall.
