FIM Announces Abbreviated
SuperEnduro Championship
A
mid the ongoing restric-
tions relating to the Covid
pandemic, series promoter ABC
Communication has reached
an agreement with Hungar-
ian organizers to host all three
rounds of the 2021 FIM Super-
Enduro World Championship at
the Papp Laszlo Sportarena in
Budapest, April 1-4.
The first round will take place
on Thursday, April 1, with three
finals planned for the Prestige
and Junior classes, plus two
finals for the European Cup. Af-
ter this initial encounter, the or-
ganizer will then use the follow-
ing rest day to make changes to
the track, ready for the final two
rounds on the subsequent days.
Saturday, April 3, will see
round two played out on the
modified course, again with
three finals for the Prestige and
Junior classes, while the Euro-
pean Cup will reach its climax on
the same day.
The 2021 FIM SuperEnduro
World Championship will come
to a close on Sunday, April 4,
with the qualified riders from the
previous day automatically trans-
ferring through to the two finals
that will ultimately decide the
medal winners in the two main
classes.
Bastien Blanchard, ABC
Communication CEO, said, "We
are relieved and happy to finally
announce that we will have a FIM
SuperEnduro Championship in
2021. It has not been easy, as
for almost a year we have been
governed by health restrictions.
After many months of negotia-
tions with the government and
the Budapest arena, Adam
Hadobas decided to take up the
challenge of organizing three
rounds over one weekend with
the number of spectators limited,
of course, and which remains to
be confirmed."
Jean-Paul Gombeau, FIM
Sports Director, said, "Once
again we are humbled by the
huge efforts of both our promoter
and the local organizer to find a
workable solution in what re-
mains a challenging period for all
stakeholders. The planned multi-
round format at a single venue
is a good option and will provide
the best possible opportunity
for the 2021 FIM SuperEnduro
World Championship to take
place in a safe and controlled
manner."
