ROUNDS 2/3/JUNE 1-2, 2013 ROAD AMERICA/ELKHART LAKE, WISCONSIN P48 AMA DAYTONA SPORTBIKE hind me. I started pushing pretty hard to pull a little gap and I was able to and held it for a while. I made a couple of mistakes that were pretty stupid. I missed a shift going down the hill into turn three and almost ran wide and had to backshift coming out of there to get up the hill. I'm really happy with the win today. Hopefully I can come back and do it tomorrow." If Saturday saw Beaubier make only one major mistake, on Sunday he made several and it cost him. In the early going it was Gagne taking the lead. By the second lap a five-rider breakaway was established with Gagne leading Beaubier, Lewis, Rispoli and Beach. "I made a lot of mistakes. I was running wide in one and down the hill I wasn't too good on the brakes. I almost highsided and then almost hit Jake on the third to last lap down the hill. I'm just happy to pick up some points and move on to the next race." The off-track ride by Beaubier gave Gagne the chance he needed to get some distance on the series leader and he rode a clean race to the end to win by 4.191 seconds. "Earlier in the race on new tires I didn't feel good," Gagne said. "Cameron at that point had more pace than I did. Anytime he left the door open, I had to take it. Towards the end of the race I started to feel better. On used tires I actually started to pick it up a little bit. We went back and forth so many times I don't even remember. We both had a few
