IIIMY OWN RACE:
14 DYLAN FERRANDIS
11TH 450SX
Dylan Ferrandis bounced back quickly
a er his crash-related DNF last week
by qualifying third, but that would be
the highlight of his day. The Frenchman
got a bad start in the main, and then
had an encounter with a Tuff Block and
had to pull into the mechanics area
for repairs. "It was a tough two races
in Orlando," Ferrandis said. "I am not
happy, but I gave everything I had to
come back a er hi ng the Tuff Block
and losing a lot of me in the race."
91 NATE THRASHER
11TH 250SX WEST
Tennessee's Nate Thrasher was one of
the many rookies to make their AMA
Supercross debut at Orlando 2. The
Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha
Team rider rode well and finished 11th.
"It was a good first Supercross," he said.
"We had some good qualifying mes
and came out swinging with a good
start in the heat race. I almost had the
holeshot but got tangled up and went
down there in the first turn. So, I had
to go through the LCQ and just rode
smart to put it in the main. Then we
just clicked away laps. I had really good
endurance and got be er every lap.
That's the goal. We ended up 11th, so
that's not bad for a rough night."
train together every day. I felt like
start to finish I was in my comfort
zone just clicking laps away and it
felt really good."
Meanwhile, all eyes were
focused on Roczen who had a
terrible start; he was 12th after the
first lap. But the championship
leader made a number of quick
passes and then steadily worked
his way to the front, eventually
finding himself at the tail end of a
heated three-way battle for third
which included Barcia and Eli
Tomac. Roczen fought hard to
get around Tomac on the 21st lap
and then tried desperately to get
around the TLD/Red Bull/Gas-
Gas rider, Barcia, before it was
over to keep the points damage
to a minimum, but to no avail.
Roczen crossed the finish line
just one second behind Barcia to
finish fourth, his worst result since
finishing fifth at Houston 2.
A podium for Barcia didn't seem
in the cards earlier in the day.
Barcia suffered a fall in practice
