"It was looking good, but un- fortunately I had a crash in the second qualifying session," Law- rence said after Indy 2. "I didn't really hurt myself much, just had a bloody nose. I hit a Tuff Block that was in a bad spot, and it was put back in the same spot for the heat race. I hit it straight on and fell straight on my head and shoulder. I was looked at by big break when Nichols went down in the main the following Saturday. He made the best of it, winning handily over Shimoda and getting himself right back in the title hunt. However, he knows he's going to need a little luck and find some more speed if he's going to overtake Nichols in the championship with just two races left. Honda HRC's Jett Lawrence provided a lot of drama at Indy 2. The Aussie smashed his face in practice when he fell in the whoops, then injured his shoul- der when he crashed out during his heat race. He came back to win the LCQ but rode gingerly. He lined up for the main event, but he and his team decided it was best not to race and he pulled out, effectively ending his chances for the title. He came back Saturday (Indy 3) and rode well, finishing fifth in the main. SUPERCROSS MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS SERIES, AN FIM WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP ROUNDS 5 & 6 / FEBRUARY 2 & 6, 2021 LUCAS OIL STADIUM / INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA P68 10th... Aaron Plessinger scored a season-best fifth on Tuesday night. "I just hammered it, and it played out well," he said... John Short (Twisted Tea/H.E.P. Motorsports Suzuki), who is aboard the lone Suzuki in the championship, pulled out of Indy 3 during practice. He tried riding after separating his shoulder at the previous race. He was eighth in the 250SX East Championship... Jason Anderson suffered a dislocated finger during Tuesday's first 450SX timed qualifying session. He came back and rode Saturday where he finished sixth... 450SX-class rookie Brandon Hartranft matched his best outing of the season at Indy 2 but followed that up with a DNQ at Indy 3. "We need to go back to the drawing board and see what we can come up with," said Hartranft's Twist- ed Tea/H.E.P. Motorsports Suzuki Team Manager Dusty Pipes. "We're going to change some settings in the forks and shock and hopefully get him racing to his full potential next weekend in Orlando." Briefly... Jett Lawrence (left) and Nichols went 5-3 at Indy 3. Lawrence saw his championship hopes vanish Tuesday (Indy 2) after a crash in his heat prevented him from competing in the main event. 250SX East Indy 2 Highlights
