IN THE WIND P20 2022 Indian FTR Range First Look T he Indian FTR (formerly the FTR1200) lineup will get a workover and be released as an early 2022 model. Released in early 2019, the FTR was the production fruit of Indian Motorcycle's American Flat Track labor, where they have dominated every championship since entering the competition in 2017. The Indian FTR will start to deviate from the flat track racer even more for 2022, with aims to make it more street-focused. These include new 17-inch wheels for the FTR, FTR S and FTR R Carbon laced with Metzeler Sportec rub- ber, a lower seat height and narrower ProTaper handlebars. The motor now pos- sesses cylinder deactivation to help keep the rider and machine cooler in traffic and at idle (Ducati pioneered this technology many years ago). Here's a look at the various FTR models in the lineup. Indian Motorcycle FTR S Available in Maroon Metallic and White Smoke, the FTR S begins at $14,999. The FTR S includes Indian Motorcycle's 4.3-inch touchscreen display, which offers smartphone integration via Bluetooth or USB and configurable gauges. The FTR S is standard with an upgraded Akrapovic exhaust, three ride modes, wheelie control with rear lift mitigation, stability control, traction control and cornering ABS, and a USB charging port.
